Difference Between Arteries and Veins

The Major Difference Between Arteries and Veins is that Arteries Carry Blood from the heart and oxygenated blood except pulmonary artery, bright red in color and can feel a pulse while Veins Carry Blood to he heart and De-Oxygenated blood except pulmonary vein and dark red in color which can’t feel pulse.

What are Veins?

Veins are the blood vessels which can carry blood from the all parts of the body to the heart. Veins contain blood which is deficient in oxygen but carbon dioxide except for the pulmonary veins or the veins which carry oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart. Blood contained in veins is called deoxygenated blood. Veins are wider as compared with arteries and have valves to prevent back flow of blood. Wall of the veins is non-elastic.

Arteries are the blood vessels which carry blood from the heart to all parts or organs of the body. They carry oxygenated blood except for the pulmonary arteries which carry deoxygenated blood to lungs. Arteries have thick elastic walls and have no valves.

Arteries and Veins are the major parts of the blood circulation system in any animals on the planet.both play and important role in human body also.the main purpose of these is blood circulation but there is a slight difference between arteries and veins i.e arteries are the blood vessels which take blood away from the heart to the other parts of the body. they are thick and have stronger and smoother valves.on the other hand, the veins are that type of blood vessels that carry oxygen rich blood towards the heart from the different part of the body. they are thin as compared to arteries also having weaker valves.
