What is solidification?

Solidification refers to a chemical process through which a change in the state of matter is generated from a liquid to a solid state through the cooling process.

In this sense, it is important to point out that there are various types of state changes in matter, namely: liquid, solid and gaseous . All these changes of states of matter materialize in accordance with the present conditions of both pressure and temperature to which it is subjected as well as the amount of energy to which the particles that make it up are subjected.

Solidification is then about the process of transformation of matter that has been practiced in the productive area since ancient times.

Solidification point

This is the point that is required for a liquid to be transformed into a solid. It should be noted that this liquid element in its pure state, has the same level of both solidification and fusion, making it one of the substances that is in equilibrium.

Examples of solidification

  1. Making water into ice through the freezing point, exposing matter to 0 degrees Celsius.
  2. The elaboration of clay blocks is made from a mixture of semi-liquid elements that later go through a baking process, with high temperatures to achieve solidification in it.
  3. The sausages are made from the coagulated blood of the animal, which is later prepared and seasoned and formed with the animal’s gut.
  4. Igneous rocks are made from exposure to high temperatures such as volcanic magma found deep in the earth and when exposed to the surface and in combination with oxygen, it hardens and solidifies.
  5. The elaboration of caramel merits the melting of the sugar and subsequent cooling in containers prepared for it.
  6. The elaboration of the glass is generated thanks to the mixture of several elements that make up the raw material, exposed to high temperatures and then it is left to rest until it acquires the desired shape and solidification.
  7. For the elaboration of handicrafts, manufacturers use semi-liquid materials that are subsequently subjected to high temperatures to solidify the final product.
  8. The production of certain metal-based materials is carried out after the melting process and subsequent cooling, in order to acquire the desired shape when solidified.
  9. The process of making cakes is subjected to high temperatures to go from liquid to solid.
  10. In order to be able to mold figures in plastic, it is imperative to melt the raw material and then expose it to low temperatures in order to achieve solidification.
